WHEN JANEY COMES MARCHING HOME:
Portraits of Women Combat Veterans

A collaboration between author-filmmaker Laura Browder and photojournalist Sascha Pflaeging

arrow At the Visual Arts Center, 1812 West Main St., Richmond, VA

arrow September 12 - December 14, 2008, with a public reception on Friday evening, September 12, 2008

A series of more than 40 large-scale photographic portraits of female soldiers and candid interviews about what it's like to be a woman in the U.S. military.

Browder gives voice to female combat veterans whose stories are by turns moving, comic, thought-provoking, and heart-breaking on issues ranging from how they deal with sexual harassment in the military to what it is like to spend 12 hours a day outside the wire in Baghdad.
